The beach of Las Canteras is mandatory check point on a tour of our city. This urban beach is considered by palmenses as the recreation room of the city. A walk along the beach from one end to the other, from the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium to La Puntilla.

Right in the center of the city we find the Plaza de España and Mesa y López Avenue, meeting place and axis around which revolves the commercial, tourist and leisure activities in the area and leading to another beach of town called Las Alcaravaneras beach. Next to Current Las Canteras, Avenida Mesa y Lopez, and next to the Puerto de la Luz, the Parque de Santa Catalina still retains the imprint of its origin port buildings represented by Miller, multifunctional enclosure and Elder, the Museum of Science and Technology. It is in this same park where every year is celebrated the world famous Carnival of Las Palmas.

Nearby too is the Art Center The Regent.

Following from Santa Catalina to the seaside neighborhood of La Isleta by Albareda, a multitude of 'stores Indians' shops is discovered in the hands of any of the colonies of foreigners who settled on the island during the decades of 60 and 70 the last century under the economic prosperity emanating from the Puerto de la Luz and dedicated mostly to the sale of electronic products.

On the left, the visitor arrives at the Castillo de La Luz, built in the sixteenth and for centuries one of the main defenses of the city. The Castle is the endpoint of the seaside neighborhood of La Isleta.

Neben Aktuelle Las Canteras, Avenida Mesa y Lopez, und neben dem Puerto de la Luz, der Parque de Santa Catalina behält noch den Abdruck der seinen Ursprung Hafengebäude von Miller, Multifunktionsgehäuse und Elder, das Museum für Wissenschaft und Technologie vertreten. Es ist in diesem gleichen Park, wo jedes Jahr das weltberühmte Karneval von Las Palmas gefeiert.

In der Nähe ist auch die Art Center The Regent.
