Es la "joya de la corona" de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Ubicada en el norte de la ciudad, la singularidad de esta playa de arena dorada reside fundamentalmente en su "barra", un arrecife calcáreo de más de 100.000 años de antigüedad.

La barra recorre buena parte de los 3.100 metros de longitud de la playa en paralelo a la orilla y a una distancia de 200 metros, por lo que constituye un rompeolas natural y proporciona unas aguas siempre calmas, aunque hay una zona de fuerte oleaje que es aprovechada para practicar surf y boogie.

La temperatura media anual es de 21ºC, mientras el agua se mantiene en torno a los 20º. Además, posee un ecosistema único, con diferentes hábitats y abundante riqueza piscícola. Es la playa urbana más importante del Archipiélago y posee desde junio de 2004 el certificado UNE-EN ISO 14001, concedido por AENOR. Este certificado garantiza que todos los servicios y trabajos que se realizan en la playa se realizan en el más absoluto respeto al medio ambiente. Sólo lo poseen en España las playas de La Concha, en San Sebastián y La Victoria, en Cádiz.

La calidad de la playa y de sus servicios ya se venía reconociendo año tras año, ininterrumpidamente, desde 1989, con la bandera azul de la Unión Europea, garantía de que las aguas, la limpieza, medios de vigilancia, salvamento y socorrismo de la playa son óptimos.

Entre sus servicios cuenta con abundante mobiliario urbano, accesos para minusválidos, balnearios, 13 sectores de hamacas y sombrillas para alquiler, disponibles entre las 9.00 y las 17.00 horas, así como varias zonas de aparcamientos. Está bien conectada mediante transporte público y durante todo el año se organizan actividades de ocio y esparcimiento.

La playa de El Confital está situada en la península de La Isleta y es la prolongación natural de Las Canteras. La franja litoral que abarca es de varios kilómetros, aunque la zona habitualmente utilizada para el baño es de aproximadamente dos kilómetros de extensión. Está formada por tableros de roca con una franja de arena gruesa al final de los mismos, es admirada por la limpieza de sus aguas, la perfección de sus olas, la belleza de sus rocas y acantilados.

Confital Beach is located on the peninsula of La Isleta and is a natural extension of Las Canteras. Confital Strand liegt auf der Halbinsel La Isleta und ist eine natürliche Erweiterung der Las Canteras.

La playa de las Alcaravaneras, de casi un kilómetro de extensión por 85 de ancho medio, es de fina arena dorada y aguas tranquilas. Situada junto al puerto deportivo y dentro de las aguas del Puerto de la Luz, soporta un alto grado de ocupación por tratarse de una playa ubicada en una de las zonas más populosas de la ciudad. Está bordeada por un paseo marítimo y limita a ambos lados con dos de los clubes náuticos de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Sobre ella se despliega una enorme actividad deportiva y la tranquilidad de sus aguas permite el desarrollo de distintas modalidades de deportes náuticos. Posee balneario, pero se abre al público sólo durante los meses de verano. Alberga en el pasillo inferior del Paseo diversos locales, ocupados por clubes deportivos y asociaciones vecinales.

Situada en la salida sur de la ciudad, la playa de San Cristóbal está enclavada en el barrio marinero del mismo nombre. Es una pequeña playa de callaos y piedra de aproximadamente 300 metros de longitud. Limita por un extremo con el Castillo de San Cristóbal y, por el otro, con el muelle pesquero del barrio. Es muy utilizada por surferos.

Begrenzt ist an einem Ende mit dem Schloss von St. Kitts und auf der anderen Seite mit dem Fischerhafen Bezirk. Es wird von vielen Surfern verwendet.

De 1.200 metros de longitud, se halla en la entrada sur de la ciudad y orientada al nacimiento del sol. De fina arena gris, durante la última década del siglo pasado, el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente realizó una actuación de regeneración en ella, construyendo un dique sumergido y aportándole arena de fondos marinos próximos. Soporta un oleaje moderado y sus corrientes entrañan peligro, por lo que la precaución en el baño debe ser siempre máxima. Cuenta con servicio de salvamento y socorrismo durante los meses estivales. Permite la práctica de todo tipo de deportes, actividades en la arena y especialmente la pesca y el surf.
